For the past many years I have had the privilege to teach and support my four children ages 28, 25, 22, and 15 in their daily growth, faith, and education.
I have passionately taught math at the elementary level as well as the high school level. I love working with fifth and sixth grade students because I believe these grades can be a scary year for a lot of students. They are moving away from the familiar elementary school and moving toward middle school that can be much more demanding which is why they need many successes every day.
I believe teachers are coaches of understanding, not mere purveyors of content knowledge, skill, or activity. We focus on ensuring that learning happens, not just teaching (and assuming that what was taught was learned); we always aim - and check for - successful transfer by the learner.
I am eager to coach my students and help them learn by instilling a joy of learning through much success.
